  • The American Athletic Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) serves as the voice of student athletes hailing from 13 member institutions and competing in 21 sports.  In doing so, the committee’s mission is to improve communication with all student-athletes at member institutions as well as between institutions, take an active role understanding and providing feedback regarding NCAA and Conference legislation, and promote student-athlete well-being, academic achievement, personal development and community service.

    Term through June 2017

    Hello All!

Welcome to the American Athletic Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee! My name is Alyssa Drachslin, I am a rising senior volleyball student-athlete at Temple University. I am honored to have been selected as the student-athlete to represent the American Athletic Conference student-athletes at the national level, on the NCAA Division 1 SAAC. On National SAAC, I have a unique opportunity to be the voice of our conference on multiple NCAA committees. In addition to the National SAAC, I have been selected to serve as the student-athlete voice on the Committee for the Women’s Athletics board.
With multiple in-person conferences throughout the year, including NCAA convention, partnered with monthly SAAC calls, I hope to express a strong, united opinion as the American Athletic Conference SAAC. This committee provides student-athletes a platform to not only voice our opinion, but to directly influence the decisions that affect our experiences as athletes. We now have a student athlete representative on the NCAA Board of Directors, thus enabling our voice to grow and have an impact.
It is my goal as the American Athletic Conference representative to take what I learn and continue this growth on a conference and institutional level! There will be two conference calls each semester to coincide with consistent communication throughout the year to encourage NCAA initiatives, deliberate legislation, and develop each institutional SAAC. We will follow each year with an in-person meeting, in June, at the American Athletic Conference office to review our successes from the prior year and discuss motions for the upcoming year. I am thrilled to be serving in this capacity and I eagerly await all that we can accomplish this year as a united conference SAAC!
    I am because WE ARE.

    Sincerely,
    Alyssa Drachslin
