The American Today: Bulls Drop Bears at Sun Dome

Three teams were in action on Wednesday night, including NR/RV USF, who defeated Northern Colorado at home.

NR/RV USF 84, Northern Colorado 43

USF cruised past Northern Colorado Wednesday evening, topping the Bears 84-43 at the Sun Dome. The Bulls improved to 8-3 with the win while Northern Colorado fell to 6-4 after the loss. Tamara Taylor scored a career-high 24 points for USF and connected on six 3-pointers, also a career-high. Courtney Williams added 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while Alisia Jenkins pulled down her seventh double-double fo the year with 18 points and 16 rebounds. The Bulls opened the game on a 31-3 run and led 51-12 at the break.

Akron 73, UCF 64

UCF rallied from a 16-point deficit against Akron but it was not enough as the Zips held on for a 73-64 victory over the Knights at CFE Arena. Brittni Montgomery notched her second-straight double-double that included a 20-rebound performance. After matching her school record 24 board at Iona over the weekend, she followed that with a 21 rebound, 11 point performance on Wednesday. Montgomery was joined in double digits by Zykira Brown (26 points) and Aliyah Gregory (career-high 19 points).

Northern Kentucky 66, Cincinnati 52

Cincinnati couldn't overcome 22 turnovers during Wednesday's action at Northern Kentucky (NKU). NKU scored 21 points off Bearcats miscues en route to a 66-52 win. Marley Hill had her third double-double of the season and her second in three games with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chelsea Jamison pulled down a career-high nine rebounds with five coming on the offensive end.
