Tulane Defeats UCF on Last Second Basket

Freshman Kolby Morgan hit the game-winning layup for Tulane to give the Green Wave a 71-70 win over UCF Tuesday evening at CFE Arena. Tulane moved to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the victory while the Knights fell to 6-10 and 2-3 in The American with the loss.

Leading 70-66 after Zykira Lewis hit a 3-pointer as the shot clock winded down to its final seconds, UCF saw its lead fade on back-to-back jumpers from Tulane. Danielle Blagg connected on a trey for the Green Wave with 21 seconds left. Blagg then fouled UCF's Andrea Hines and sent her to the charity stripe. Hines’ free-throw attempt fell short, allowing Morgan the opportunity to slip in with the game-winning layup.

Lewis finished the night with a game-high 27 points. Freshman Aliyah Gregory added 16 points, and senior Yanique Gordon pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds off the bench. Morgan finished with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds for Tulane while Blagg added a season-high 20 points. Jamie Kaplan dished out six assists for the Green Wave and moved into second place on the school's all-time list with 503.
