Temple 72, UCF 57

Temple withstood a late comeback from UCF on Saturday before picking up a 72-57 victory at McGonigle Hall. The Owls built a 49-20 halftime lead before the Knights climbed back into the game in the second period on 52-percent shooting to Temple's 19-percent. The Owls rallied and used a late 15-2 run with under five minutes remaining to put the game away and seal the win. Tyonna Williams led Temple with 17 points and four assists while Tanaya Atkinson notched her fourth-career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Zykira Lewis led the Knights in scoring for the fifth-straight game with 21 points while Yanique Gordon finished with her second double-double of the year, 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Tulane 60, SMU 58

Tulane defeated SMU in a close decision, 60-58, Saturday afternoon at Devlin Fieldhouse. Leslie Vorpahl gave the Green Wave a one-point lead late in the game on a 3-pointer with 1:25 remaining. The sophomore scored six of the team’s final eight points and the final free-throw to get the final score of 60. With the win, Tulane improved to 6-1 in games decided by single digits. Vorpahl and Danielle Blagg finished with 16 points apiece for the Green Wave while Destynee Hives-McCray had 16 points for the Mustangs off the bench. Alicia Froling added nine points for SMU and Gabrielle Wilkins chipped in seven points, five assist and four rebounds.

Tulsa 74, Houston 52

Kelsee Grovey’s 18 points led four Tulsa players in double-figures as the Golden Hurricane defeated Houston, 74-52, Saturday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Grovey scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the second half and shot 50-percent (7-for-14) from the field and 50-percent (4-for-8) from 3-point range. Tyler Gilbert paced the Cougars with 16 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Houston trailed by seven points at the break and was within 10 with just under eight minutes remaining, but Tulsa used an 11-1 run to put the game of reach.
