The American Today: Temple and Tulane Get Road Wins

Temple 71, UCF 54

Five Temple players scored in double figures in a 63-46 win at UCF Tuesday evening in Orlando. Temple has now won three games in a row and moved to 6-2 in conference play (10-11 overall) with the win while the Knights fell to 7-13 overall and 3-6 in The American with the loss. The Owls got a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds from junior Erica Covile and used a 22-2 second half run to put the game away. Zykira Lewis had a game-high 20 points for UCF. The sophomore scored the final seven points for the Knights.

Tulane 63, Houston 46

Tulane picked up a 63-46 win at Houston Tuesday night at Hofheinz Pavilion. Danielle Blagg (15 points), Kolby Morgan (13 pts), Chinwe Duru (11 pts) and Leslie Vorpahl (11 pts) all netted double-digit points for the Green Wave, with the latter earning her fourth straight. Blagg’s team high 15 points included a season best 6-for-7 night from the free-throw line and a team-high six rebounds. Houston was paced by 13 points apiece from Tyler Gilbert and Alecia Smith. Gilbert added 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
