Breanna Stewart had a season-high 28 points and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis added 17 in a 92-46 UConn win over Tulsa Saturday afternoon at the Donald J. Reynolds Center. Kelsee Grovey and Ashley Clark each scored 13 points for the Hurricane (14-12, 9-6), which lost its second straight after a six-game win streak. Stewart made 13 of 18 shots to along with nine rebounds and six blocks for the Huskies (26-1, 15-0 American). Grovey made two 3-pointers in the first 1:18 to give the Golden Hurricane a 6-4 lead, but UConn responded with a 19-0 run while holding Tulsa scoreless for more than five minutes.
East Carolina 53, Cincinnati 40
East Carolina ran its winning streak to a season-best six games with a 53-40 victory over Cincinnati in American Athletic Conference action at Minges Coliseum Saturday afternoon. Jada Payne had a game-high 16 points and I’Tiana Taylor added 12 for the Pirates in the win. East Carolina committed a season-low 12 turnovers and held a 45-30 advantage in rebounding, including a 22-4 difference on the offensive glass. Freshman Ana Owens paced the Bearcats in scoring with a team-high nine points.
SMU 68, Houston 51
SMU shot a season-high 52.1-percent from the field and received 37 points from their bench in a 68-51 win over Houston Saturday afternoon at Hofheinz Pavilion. Keely Froling scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half, which ended with the Mustangs holding a 10-point lead, 35-25. Tyler Gilbert led the Cougars with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Bianca Winslow and Jessieka Palmer scored seven points each. Houston set a season high with 20 made free-throws and shot 71.4-percent (20-for-28) from the charity stripe.
Tulane 75, Memphis 65
Tulane used a late 21-9 run to defeat Memphis, 75-65, Saturday afternoon at Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave earned its sixth straight 20+ win season in the process and improved to 11-5 in conference play (20-7 overall) with the victory. The Tigers fell to 7-8 in The American and 13-13 overall with the loss. Adesuwa Ebomwonyi recorded a season-high 18 points for Tulane while Kolby Morgan recorded a game-high 22 points. Jamie Kaplan tied her career-high with 13 assists, which also tied for the third most in a single game in Tulane history. Memphis got a team-high 18 points from Ariel Hearn.
