USF Beats Temple, Completes Season Sweep

Freshman Laura Ferreira led five USF players in double figures in the Bulls' 79-53 win over Temple Sunday afternoon at the Sun Dome. USF improved to 22-5 overall and 13-2 in The American with the win while the Owls fell to 13-15 and 9-6 in conference play with the loss.

Ferreira scored 12 of her career-high 17 points in the first half while Alisia Jenkins added 13 points and 13 rebounds for her 19th double-double of the season. Temple shot just 26.9-percent (18-for-67) from the field while USF finished 29-for-60 (48.3-percent).

The Owls went more than six minutes without a field goal during a 16-3 USF run midway through the first half. The Bulls took a 20-point lead, 37-17, with 1:34 remaining in the first half to help push the game out of reach. Temple got a game-high tying 17 points from Tyonna Williams. With three treys, Williams moved into sole possession of second place on Temple's all-time career list with 155 makes from beyond the arc.
