The American Today: Tulsa Nips Memphis on the Road

UCF 59, Houston 38

Zykira Lewis had a game-high 20 points and Aliyah Gregory added 15 as UCF completed a season sweep of Houston with a 59-38 win Tuesday evening at CFE Arena. With four treys on the night, Lewis moved to No. 4 in UCF’s record book for single season 3-pointers. She needs six more to claim the record outright. Mariah Mitchell paced the Cougars with 12 points while Marche’ Amerson scored 11. The halftime deficit was just seven points for Houston, but the Knights scored the first 15 points of the second half to build a 41-19 lead and help put the game away.

RV/RV USF 74, Cincinnati 44

RV/RV USF collected its 23rd win of the season with a 74-44 victory over Cincinnati Tuesday night at Fifth Third Arena. Courtney Williams scored a game-high 22 points for the Bulls, reaching 20 points for the 17th time this season, while Alisia Jenkins recorded her 20th double-double of the year with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Ana Owens' 13 points led the way for the Bearcats while Marley Hill added eight points and nine rebounds. Cincinnati pulled within four points of the lead with 2:45 left in the first half, but would get no closer, tallying only a free-throw in the final 2:44 of the stanza.

Tulsa 65, Memphis 62


Ashley Clark scored 17 points for Tulsa while three other players posted double figures in a 65-62 win over Memphis Tuesday night at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Kelsee Grovey added 13 points, Mariah Turner tallied 12 and Kadan Brady chipped in 10. Turner and Clark hit back-to-back free-throws with just over a minute remaining in regulation to seal the win for the Hurricane after the Tigers trimmed the Tulsa lead to three midway through the second half. Memphis had three players in double-digits and were led by Mooriah Rowser's 17 points. Ariel Hearn added 16 points and a game-high six assists.
