Temple made a program-record 15 3-pointers en route to an 84-61 win over Memphis Wednesday afternoon at the Liacouras Center. The Owls got a career-high 30 points from freshman Alliya Butts and a career-best seven treys from senior Tyonna Williams.
Butts and Williams led Temple to 51.7-percent shooting from beyond the arc, as Temple improved to 7-3 in the American and 11-12 overall with the win. The Tigers fell to 5-6 in league play and 11-11 overall with the loss.
Temple's previous record for 3-pointers was 14, set on January 29, 2011 in an 84-56 win over Richmond. Prior to Butts' 30-point output, the last Owl to score 30 points was Shay Peddy, who also scored 30 in a win over Duquesne on March 3, 2012.
Ariel Hearn was the lone Memphis player in double digits, scoring 24 points, while Mooriah Rowser and Brianna Wright added nine each. Asianna Fuqua-Bey pulled down a game-high tying 11 rebounds on the defensive end.
