Morgan Tuck had 26 points and eight assists for top seeded UConn in the Huskies' 89-33 win over St. Francis (NY) Saturday evening at Gampel Arena. Tuck, who outscored the Terriers 20-14 in the first half, made 12 of her 13 shots from the floor. UConn (33-1) who won their 32nd consecutive game with the victory.
The Huskies shot 70-percent from the floor and held the Terriers to just 22-percent shooting. UConn is now 23-2 in the opening round, where they have not lost since 1993. The Huskies will face Rutgers in the second round on Monday at 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2).
Breanna Stewart finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies while Gabby Williams added 15 points and six rebounds on 7-for-7 shooting from the field.
St. Francis (NY) had won eight of its previous nine games, including three consecutive road games to win their first NEC Tournament championship. Jaymee Vaney finished with five points for the Terriers and finished just six shy of becoming the seventh player in St. Francis history to score 500 points in a season.
