NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Recap

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –   SMU senior Rachel Nicol registered an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke to lead the American Athletic Conference contingent at the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships March 19-21 at the Greensboro Aquatics Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
 
Nicol reached the championship final of the 100 breaststroke to finish as an All-America selection. She turned in a time of 59.89 seconds in the final after she registered a 59.49 finish in the preliminaries. SMU’s Tara-Lynn Nicholas took 12th in the 100 breaststroke as she was the fourth-place finisher in the consolation final with a 59.46.
 
SMU’s Marne Erasmus and Isabella Arcila registered 15th-place finishes to earn honorable mention All-America status at the NCAA meet. Erasmus was 15th in the 100 butterfly, while Arcila was 15th in the 100 freestyle for the best of her three individual performances.
 
Cincinnati sophomore Jackie Keire, the Most Outstanding Swimmer at the 2015 American Athletic Conference Championship, finished 16th in the 200 freestyle to earn All-America honorable mention honors.
 
SMU also earned an All-America performance in the 400 medley relay as the quartet of Arcila, Nicholas, Erasmus and Nathalie Lindborg took 13th in 3:33.67.
 
SMU was 31st in the team standings with 27 points, while Cincinnati took 46th with one point. Representatives from all six American Athletic Conference women’s programs participated in the NCAA meet.
