TULSA, Okla. -- Quarterback Dane Evans threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns, and running back James Flanders rushed for 190 yards and two TDs on 22 carries to lead Tulsa to a 50-27 win against Tulane Saturday at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Tulsa, which improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the American Athletic Conference West Division, reeled off 566 yards of total offense had a 29-15 advantage in first downs.
Josh Atkinson had seven receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown as the Golden Hurricane pulled away with a 17-0 second quarter to build a 31-7 halftime lead. Atkinson's 49-yard touchdown in the second quarter gave Tulsa the lead for good when he made it 14-7.
Tulane (3-4, 0-3) was led by running back Dontrell Hilliard, who had 124 yards and two touchdowns, while Josh Rounds went for 166 yards and a score.
