Highlights

• SMU defeated Cincinnati, 64-47, in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs improved to 10-4 overall and 7-0 at home with the win while the Bearcats fell to 9-5 (0-1) with the loss. Alicia Froling finished with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for SMU and logged her ninth double-double of the season. The junior also posted a career-high six blocks.  Senior guard Bianca Quisenberry led Cincinnati in scoring for the third-straight game with a game-high 19 points.

• The Tulane defense posted its best showing of the year in terms of points allowed and opponent field goal percentage on Saturday when it defeated East Carolina, 61-45, at Minges Coliseum in the conference opener for both teams. Senior Courtnie Latham paced the Green Wave with 12 points while Kristen Gaffney paced the Pirates offensively with a game-high 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field.
