BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 27 Tulane baseball ran their win streak to six-straight games on Tuesday night behind outstanding defensive plays, seven hits and strong outings by the pitching staff, as the Green Wave defeated LSU, 7-1, at Alex Box Stadium for the program’s first victory in Baton Rouge since 2007.

How It Was Won
Tulane (18-7) hopped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Hunter Hope walked with the bases loaded against LSU’s (16-8) Cole McKay. The Green Wave added insurance runs in the second, as Jake Rogers posted a two-run double, followed by a wild play that saw two runs cross home plate after a sacrifice fly and an LSU error. Jake Willsey tagged his fifth home run of the season in the eighth inning before Grant Witherspoon added an RBI-single in the ninth.

Quote
“I think going into the game, our goal was to be a very mature team. When you come into an environment like this, you can get mesmerized or star struck. I think we handled it really well. We slowed the game down, which allowed us to make some defensive plays. We attacked the strike zone all night. I was so proud of not only J.P. France, but also Sam Bjorngjeld and Jeremy Montalbano coming in. Everything was just pieced together perfectly."
