UConn (13-0, 1-0) moved within two victories of matching their NCAA record of 90 straight wins and set the NCAA record with 31 straight road wins during the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The Huskies also extended their winning streak against unranked opponents to 100 games. Zykira Lewis paced the Knights (10-4, 0-1) with 18 points. • Houston opened American Athletic Conference play with a 71-66 win over Tulsa on Sunday inside Hofheinz Pavilion. Freshman Jasmyne Harris led five Cougars in double figure scoring with 14 points. Houston won their conference opener for the first time since 2012-13 when they defeated Memphis 77-75 on Jan. 10. Tulsa's Erika Wakefield led all scorers with 25 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe. • Temple head coach Tonya Cardoza became the program's all-time winningest coach on Sunday as the Owls topped Memphis, 73-67, in overtime at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The win was the fifth-straight for Temple, who improved to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Memphis dipped to 7-7 overall, 0-1 in The American with the loss. Cardoza passed Dawn Staley (2000-08) with her 173rd victory in cherry and white and is now 173-104 in her ninth season as Temple's head coach. Three players notched double-doubles for the Owls, led by a 19-point, 10-assist, 8-rebound stat line from Feyonda Fitzgerald, who tallied her second double-double of the season. The Tigers' Taylor Williams led all players with 20 points, while Brea Elmore added 17 points.
