Highlights
- The Tigers battled through five sets and came out on top against Tulane to capture their first American win of the season in a midweek match in New Orleans, La. on Tuesday afternoon.
Both Tai Bierria and Faith Myers recorded double-doubles to help Memphis snap a seven-match setback and pace its offense to victory. Bierria put down a match-high 17 kills and bumped 17 digs, while Myers guided the team with 32 assists and 16 digs. Memphis now leads the all-time series against the Green Wave, 30-19.
Tulane drops its sixth straight match, as both teams are 1-7 in conference play. The Green Wave totaled 15 blocks and was led by Dayna Kern who had 12 kills, a .429 hitting percentage and seven blocks. Alexis Silver added eight blocks, as Markenzie Benoit and Hannah Shaw each had 10 kills.
Both teams will return to action over the weekend. Memphis will host ECU on Friday, Oct. 20 and Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 22. Tulane will welcome USF to the gym on Friday and UCF on Sunday.
