Houston erased a 10-point halftime deficit to come from behind and beat Liberty 75-68 on the opening day of the UMASS Thanksgiving Classic Friday. Angela Harris led all scorers in the contest with a season-high 20 points, while Jasmyne Harris added 16 points in 19 minutes of action. Seritha Hawkins put in 12 points en route to her 13th double-double after leading all rebounders with 11 boards, while Octavia Barnes added 12 points and Dorian Branch finished with 11.
16/16USF 61, Washington State 55
Three USF (5-0) players scored in double figures in route to an 82-45 victory over Washington State (1-4). The Bulls held the Cougars scoreless in the first quarter and carried a 17-0 lead into the second quarter. Kitija Laksa led the team in points with 23, while Maria Jespersen followed with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Laura Ferreira finished the game with 14 points, nine rebounds and four steals.
SMU 73, UC Riverside 51
After a fast start, SMU (3-3) coasted to a 73-51 victory on Friday night against UC Riverside (1-4). The Mustangs opened a 24-7 lead in the first quarter. McKenzie Adams logged her seventh 20-point game. Kiara Perry posted her fifth-career double-double with 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
