UCF and Temple fall in second round of NIVC

- The Owls’ and Knights’ postseason runs came to a close, as each team lost in three sets in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship’s (NICV) Second Round. The NIVC features 32 teams and is being played for the first time in 22 years. Temple (21-10) fell to West Virginia (20-12) in Morgantown, W.Va., while UCF (20-14) ended its 2017 slate against Georgia (22-14) in Athens, Ga.

The Knights' seven-match winning streak came to an end, as they were held to hitting .082. UCF was led by Kia Bright who registered eight kills and eight digs. She concluded her senior season with a league-high 22 double-doubles. UCF led 13-6 in blocks with Jeanna Westney and Taylor Wickey picking up six stuffs each.
 
Temple 0,  West Virginia 3
Katerina Papazoglou and Dana Westfield each knocked down nine kills to lead the Owls, as Temple’s 2017 campaign ended with a 3-0 loss to the host West Virginia. The Owls earned their postseason trip for the first time in 15 seasons. West Virginia recorded a .321 hitting percentage and was led by Morgan Montgomery and Payton Caffrey who each had 12 kills.
