UCF 76, Temple 46
UCF (9-5, 1-0) opened American Athletic Conference action with a 76-46 win Temple (8-5, 0-1) Saturday. Led by Aliyah Gregory's 19 points, four Knights finished in double figures. Zakiya Saunders added 17 points, collected seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Masseny Kaba chipped in 13 points, and Nyala Shuler added a season-best 12 points.
Mia Davis led the Owls in scoring for the second-straight game, finishing with 14 points, while Mykia Jones scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Houston 85, SMU 75
Houston (12-3, 1-0) was led offensively by four players in double figures in the 85-75 win over SMU (6-8, 0-1) Saturday afternoon. Jasmyne Harris scored a game-high 27 points in the league opener. Myyah West finished the contest with a career-high 16 points and six rebounds. Angela Harris and Serithia Hawkins each scored 13 points.
McKenzie Adams led the Mustangs' offensive scoring with 25 points for her seventh 20-point game of the season. Kiara Perry and Dai'ja Thomas joined Adams in double figures, scoring 14 and 10, respectively.
Tulsa 67, Wichita State 62
Three
Tulsa (7-7, 1-0) players scored in double figures to beat Wichita State (5-10, 0-1) in the American Athletic Conference opener Saturday. Kendrian Elliot and Alexis Gaulden had a team-best 14 points, while Rebecca Lescay added a career-high 12 points for the Hurricane. Shug Dickson and Crystal Polk both pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Rangie Bessard led the Shockers with her fourth double-double of the season. Bessard posted a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Angiee Tompkins added 15 points and Jeliah Preston chipped in 10.
Cincinnati 66, ECU 54
Cincinnati (9-5, 1-0) tipped off American Athletic Conference competition Saturday night with a 66-54 victory ECU (8-6, 0-1). Four Bearcats scored in double digits, including Ana Owens who led all scorers with 18 points and a game-high seven assists. Angel Rizor and Iimar'I Thomas both finished with 14 points, while Nikira Goings added 10. Shanice Johnson grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
Destiny Campbell, Salita Greene and Mickayla Sanders all finished with eight points apiece for the Pirates. Lashonda Monk added seven points and five steals in 17 minutes of action.
