SMU Advances To Third Round of WNIT With 59-52 Win Over Abilene Christian



SMU advanced to the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the first time since 1993 with a 59-52 victory over Abilene Christian Monday night at Moody Coliseum. With the win, the Mustangs earned their 19th victory of the season and advanced to face Indiana Thursday night in Bloomington, Indiana.

Morgan Bolton led the Mustangs with 15 points, shooting 3-of-5 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. The senior also recorded three assists and three rebounds. McKenzie Adams finished with 12 points and five rebounds, her 24th game of the season scoring in double figures and the fifth consecutive. Kiara Perry added 11 points and six rebounds, while Stephanie Collins finished with seven points and five rebounds.

Alicia Froling finished with seven points and 10 rebounds. The junior now has 330 total rebounds for the season and broke her own season rebound record of 328 last season.

As a team, the Mustangs set the single season blocks record for the third straight season with 185, beating last season's 184. SMU also extended the team rebound record set last game versus Louisiana Tech with 1,380 total rebounds for the season.
