Highlights
 
- Matches were in favor of the home teams tonight, as four out of six of the hosting schools walked away with a victory in the conference’s opening night of league play.
 
- Wichita State24 (9-3, 1-0) picked up its first ever American Athletic Conference win in an exciting four-set victory over Temple (4-5, 0-1) on the road. Mikaela Raudsepp had a career-high 23 kills while hitting a .408, Emily Hiebert had 51 assists and Abbie Lehman added 14 kills, while hitting a .414 from the middle. The match was hard-fought battle with the Shockers winning the first set 29-27 and the third 31-29. Temple spread the scoring as well, with four Owls hitting in the double digits. Izzy Rapacz had 21 kills and a .345 hitting percentage, while Irem Asci had a double-double of 14 kills and 13 digs.


 
- Maya Muldrow tied her career-high with eight blocks while adding in nine kills, as the Bearcats defeated USF in three sets in Tampa, Fla. Carly Nolan also recorded her sixth double-double of the season of 11 kills and 10 digs. For the Bulls, Clara Payne put down nine kills with a .571 and three blocks. Alex Mendoza had a double-double of 33 assists and 13 digs.
 
- SMU's two seniors accounted for 41 of 66 kills as the volleyball team defeated Tulane, 3-1, in the first American Athletic Conference match of the season in Moody Coliseum Friday night. Lauren Mills tallied 23 kills and added 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season, while Katie Hegarty returned to the court for the first match since the opening weekend and had 19 kills. Tulane’s six match winning streak came to an end in the loss. The Green Wave was led by Lexie Douglas and Dayna Kern  who each had 10 kills.
 
- In its first five-set match since opening weekend, the UCF volleyball team outlasted ECU in a thrilling win. UCF (8-5, 1-0) has won five straight is now 5-0 in conference openers. Kia Bright led the way with 21 kills and 18 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. ECU is now also 8-5 overall, as Shelby Martin had 48 assists in the loss.
 
- The Golden Hurricane (7-6, 1-0) played in front of a home crowd for the first time this season. Tulsa defeated Houston, 3-1, behind a collective effort on defense as the Golden Hurricane had four players with double-digit digs. Emily Thorson posted a match-high 19 kills and totaled 12 digs for her fourth double-double on the season. The Cougars’ Megan Duncan posted her first double-double of the season and second of her career behind a 10-kill, 15-dig effort. She has led Houston in kills in each of the last three matches.
 
- UConn and Memphis also went to four sets, as the Huskies came out on top to improve to 8-5 overall this year. Kayla Williams had a match-high 18 kills and seven aces pacing the Huskies offensively on the night. Brianna Kadiku had her third-straight match with eight or more kills and four or more total blocks for Memphis.
 
- All teams will return to conference action on Sunday, Sept. 24.
