Memphis 72, ECU 36
Memphis (6-9, 1-1) outscored ECU (8-8, 0-2) 23-9 in the first quarter to carry the Tigers to a 72-36 win Saturday afternoon. Brea Elmore and Taylor Barnes each scored a team-high 22 points in the contest. Cheyenne Creighton finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double this season and is now just 25 points shy of reaching 1,000 points in her career.
Salita Greene led the Pirates with eight points and eight rebounds, while Raven Johnson and Thais Oliveira added seven points and six points, respectively.
UCF 59, Wichita State 53
For the first time in the American Athletic Conference, UCF (11-5, 3-0) is off to a 3-0 start with a 59-53 win over Wichita State (5-12, 0-3) Saturday afternoon. For the third straight game Masseny Kaba led the Knights with 13 points. Zakiya Saunders added 12 points with five assists and three steals. Lawriell Wilson chipped in 10 points, while Korneils Wright collected a team-high eight rebounds and dished out five assists.
Just shy of her third straight double-double Rangie Bessard finished the game with 17 points and nine rebounds. Diamond Lockhart also scored in double figures scoring 11 points.
Houston 98, Tulane 92
Houston (14-3, 3-0) came back from down 21 points at Tulane (9-7, 1-2) in the second half to win 98-92 in overtime and move 3-0 in conference play Saturday. The Cougars had four players in double figures. Jasmyne Harris had a career-high 34 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Serithia Hawkins also tallied a double-double, setting a career-best 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Octavia Barnes and Dorian Branch added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
The Green Wave had four players reach double figures, including a team-high 30 points from Kolby Morgan. Kayla Manuirirangi had 16 points, Sierra Cheatham had 14 and Meredith Schulte finished with 10 points.
Tulsa 64, Cincinnati 51
Tulsa (8-8, 2-1) holds on for a 64-51 win over Cincinnati (9-7, 1-2) Saturday. Alexis Gaulden scored a career-high 24 points and season-best eight rebounds in the contest. Morgan Brady also had a career-high with 14 points, Erika Wakefield added 13 to round out the Golden Hurricane double figure scoring.
Ana Owens and Angel Rizor led the Bearcats with 10 points apiece. Cincinnati scored 30 points in the paint and turned 18 forced turnovers into 24 points.
1/1UConn 100, RV/22USF 49
Napheesa Collier produced her fourth double-double of the season with 25 points and 11 rebounds to help UConn (13-0, 3-0) rout USF (12-4, 2-1) 100-49 Saturday night. Three additional Huskies scored in double figures, including Katie Lou Samuelson (15 points), Azura Stevens (15 points) and Crystal Dangerfield (10 points).
Alyssa Rader was only player on the Bulls’ squad to reach double figures with 11 points in the contest.
