Highlights
The American’s baseball teams continued a strong midweek showing, as ECU, USF and Tulane each won by at least four runs against nonconference opponents on Wednesday. The conference imprpoves to 8-0 this week after collecting five wins on Tuesday night. The American prepares for a 28-game slate over the weekend.
- ECU defeated Old Dominion 10-3 to improve to 7-1 this season. It was the third double-digit scoring performance of the year for the Pirates. Third baseman Connor Litton went 3-for-4, while outfielder Chandler Jenkins had three RBIs. ECU will host Pepperdine, No. 21 Missouri State and Saint Joseph’s this weekend.
- Tulane improved to 5-0 at home this year after completing a doubleheader sweep against Lamar in a 6-2 win. Third baseman Kody Hoese went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while starter Chase Solesky pitched 5.0 innings in a strong outing on the hill. The Green Wave will resume their homestand with Cal State Fullerton in a series this weekend.
- USF registered its most runs scored since 2014 and the most across the conference this year with its 16-1 victory at Bethune-Cookman. The Bulls enjoyed a six-run surge in the fourth inning and tacked on four more in the ninth on the way to to its third straight win. USF averages 14.5 runs over its last two games. Third baseman David Villar and outfielder Garrett Zech combined for six hits and four RBIs, as the Bulls recorded 14 hits. USF will host Columbia in a series this weekend.
