Highlights
USF extended its winning streak to nine, while Houston picked up its fifth straight win in nonconference action on Wednesday night. The conference went 6-3 in midweek games, as league play opens this weekend.
The Bulls will enter their conference opener on the league’s longest winning streak after a 12-5 victory at North Florida. USF tacked on the final seven runs of the game, and the bullpen allowed just two hits over 5.0 innings. All nine USF batters had a hit, led by shortstop Coco Montes who had three hits a third-straight game. He finished 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Second baseman JD Dutka finished with a career-high four hits and four runs. The Bulls will host UConn on Friday night to open conference play on the American Digital Network.
The Houston pitching staff kept Paririe View A&M scoreless for eight innings, as the Cougars picked up their fifth straight win, 9-2, in midweek action. Six Houston batters recorded a base knock, as third baseman Jared Triolo and designated hitter Joe Davis each collected multi-hit games. Houston will host Memphis in its conference opener on Friday.
