Highlights
The American went 4-0 on Tuesday night to start off its midweek action. No. 11 ECU highlighted the action with a 9-2 win at No. 3 Duke, earning its seventh win over a ranked opponent this year. USF, No. 24 Wichita State and Houston joined the Pirates in earning a win. With the four wins, The American improves to 139-83 in nonconference action this year, which is the third-best nonconference record among the 31 Division I conferences. The league will play seven more nonconference games on Wednesday. 
 
Starter Jake Agnos tossed five innings, holding Duke to one run on three hits, while fanning four batters to guide the Pirates to a 9-2 win. Catcher Jake Washer and outfielder Dwanya Williams-Sutton combined for six hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.
 
Wichita State scored four runs in the first inning on the way to an 8-2 win over Central Arkansas. The Shockers held the Bears to two hits, as starter Preston Snavely went five innings and gave up one unearned run on one hit with three walks and five strikeouts. Freshman Jacob Lindemann made his collegiate debut and pitched three shutout innings, scattering one hit. Second baseman Luke Ritter went 3-for-5 with a run, while outfielder Greyson Jenista went 2-for-3 with a home run and catcher Noah Croft drove in two.
 
USF scored at least one run in five innings, as three arms out of the bullpen tossed 7.1 shutout innings en route to a 7-1 win against North Florida. Sophomore lefty Noah Yager threw  5.1 innings out of the bullpen with a career-high 10 strikeouts and only one walk. Shortstop Coco Montes had a career-best four hits, while scoring two runs. 
 
Four Cougars had a multi-hit game, as Houston took Game 1 of the Don Sanders Cup with a 9-4 win over Sam Houston State. Third baseman Jared Triolo went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored, while outfielder Grayson Padgett had two hits and drove in three runs.
