PHILADELPHIA - Villanova quarterback Zach Bednarczyk threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns and tailback Aaron Forbes rushed for 111 yards as the Wildcats took a 19-17 win against Temple Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.
Frank Nutile therw for 185 yards and a touchdown for the Owls, but two late interceptions ended Temple's chances of a combeack after Villanova had taken the lead with 7:17 left in the fourth quarter.
Nutile's 15-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Wright with 5:45 left in the third quarter gave Temple its only lead of the game. The Owls had erased an early 13-3 deficit on a blocked field goal return by Kimere Brown and Nutile's TD pass to Wright.
The loss for Temple ended a four-game series winning streak against the Wildcats, who are ranked No. 19 in the NCAA FCS preseason poll.
Temple is back in action next Saturday against Buffalo.
