2019 NCAA Volleyball Championship Bracket
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the second straight season, UCF and Cincinnati earned bids as American Athletic Conference representatives into the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship. The Knights and the Bearcats were selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA volleyball tournament following the bracket announcement by the NCAA selection committee on Sunday.
A total of 32 teams, including UCF, earned automatic bids into the NCAA Championship as a conference tournament or regular-season champion. Cincinnati was among the 32 remaining squads that claimed at-large bids.
UCF (24-7, 14-2) secured its 10th all-time NCAA tournament appearance after winning the inaugural American Athletic Conference Volleyball Championship tournament on Nov. 24 at The Venue in Orlando, Florida. The Knights logged the No. 22 RPI nationally with the 26th-ranked strength of schedule. UCF is set to face Florida State from the ACC at 4:30 p.m. (ET) on Dec. 5 in Gainesville, Florida, with No. 10 seed Florida serving as the opening weekend host and taking on Alabama State.
Cincinnati (25-6, 15-1) remains the only team in the history of The American to claim an at-large berth into the NCAA Championship by qualifying for the national tournament for the third time in four seasons. Cincinnati entered Sunday’s selection night ranked 21st in the RPI, the highest among all teams in The American. The Bearcats will compete in their 13th NCAA tournament all-time, traveling to Pittsburgh to face VCU at 4 p.m. (ET) on Dec. 6. No. 6 seed and host Pittsburgh opens with Howard.
The first and second rounds of the NCAA Championship will be contested on Dec. 5-7, with regional play in the NCAA tournament slated for Dec. 13-14. The NCAA’s final four teams will compete on Dec. 19 and 21 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
