PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Four American Athletic Conference soccer players were honored as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday (Dec. 5).
Memphis women’s soccer senior Stasia Mallin was named to the first team, while UCF men’s soccer senior Cal Jennings was honored on the second team. Cincinnati men’s soccer sophomore Ben Wendell and Temple men’s soccer senior Leandros Lillis were recognized on the third team.
Mallin was named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and was a United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team selection. She was also honored on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team in 2018. She currently holds a 4.00 cumulative GPA and is majoring in biomedical engineering.
Jennings has twice been named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and was a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. He was named The American’s Offensive Player of the Year. Jennings has a 3.70 cumulative GPA and is majoring in nonprofit management.
Wendell, a defender for the Bearcats, was named an Academic All-American after posting a 4.0 cumulative GPA in the major of neuroscience.
Lillis, an American Weekly Honor Roll recipient during the 2019 season, holds a 3.97 cumulative GPA and is majoring in adult and organizational development.
