Anthony Prato, Christian Fedko and Thad Phillips each had an RBI, as UConn improved to 2-0 at home this year with a 3-1 win over Boston College Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies’ bullpen held the Eagles to one hit through the final 4.0 innings, as starter Colby Dunlap tossed the first five innings and picked up his third win of the season. Jacob Wallace retired the side in order with two strikeouts in the ninth to collect his seventh save of the year. Prato and Michael Woodworth each had a multi-hit showing. UConn has won three in a row and returns to conference play this weekend with a three-game series at UCF.
 
Houston 16, Stephen F. Austin 1 (7)
Houston scored 16 times through the first five innings and pounded out a season-high 17 hits on the way to a 16-1 seven-inning run-rule win at Stephen F. Austin Wednesday afternoon. Grayson Padgett (4-for-4) and Joe Davis (4-for-5) combined for eight hits, nine RBIs, six runs scored and two doubles. Davis hit two homers and drove in six runs in the victory. Nine Houston batters registered at least one base knock. The Cougars’ bullpen shutout Stephen F. Austin through the final six innings, giving up only two hits and two walks. Houston scored multiple runs in each of the first five innings. The Cougars went 2-0 in their midweek action and will look to carry the momentum into this weekend when they travel to Memphis for a three-game American series.
 
Cincinnati 14, Northern Kentucky 6
Tied at 6-6, an eight-run eighth inning lifted Cincinnati past Northern Kentucky, 14-6, to clinch a third-straight win Wednesday night. A.J. Bumpass sparked the eight-run surge with a three-run homer. He has now homered in three of the last four games. Joey Wiemer went 3-for-5 on the day with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Bumpass ended the night with two hits and four RBIs. The Bearcats resume conference play on Friday, hosting Tulane for a three-game series.
 
UCF 5, North Florida 0
UCF collected its second shutout of the season, as the Knights registered 11 hits in a 5-0 win over North Florida Wednesday. Four UCF batters recorded multiple hits, as Tyler Osik led the way with three, including a solo home run in the third inning. He ended the night with two RBIs. Dallas Beaver also hit a long ball, finishing the night with three RBIs and a pair of hits. Starter Jordan Spicer picked up his second win of the season, firing 6.0 innings, while striking out three and giving up only two hits. UCF hosts UConn in a three-game series this weekend.
 
Wichita State 8, Kansas State 5
Wichita State scored five runs through the first three innings on the way to an 8-5 win over Kansas State Wednesday night. The Shockers have won seven of their last 10 games, as they prepare for a three-game nonconference series against Bethune-Cookman at Eck Stadium over the weekend. Seven Shockers registered at least one base hit, as five drove in a run. Mason O’Brien led the way with a pair of hits, including an RBI double. Starter Ryan Stuempfig earned his first-career win after tossing 5.0 innings and striking out four, while Mitchell Walters retired the side in order in the ninth with two strikeouts to pick up his fourth save of the season.
 
Stetson 10, USF 9
USF’s rally came up short, as the Bulls were unable to overcome a seven-run second inning from Stetson in a 10-9 loss Wednesday night. USF scored in six of the nine innings, as hits were 13-8 in favor of the Bulls. Eight different USF batters had at least one base knock. Joe Genord led the way with a 4-for-5 showing at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs. It marked the third time Genord has hit two home runs in a game in his career. The Bulls are back home Friday for the start of a three-game series with No. 13 ECU.
