UCF 10, Wichita State 2 (Game suspended in the 7th)
Due to darkness and an issue with the lights at Eck Stadium, Game 2 of the Wichita State-UCF series has been suspended and will resume at 10 a.m. ET Saturday. The game was stopped with UCF up to bat and leading 10-2 with two outs in the top of the seventh inning. Down 1-0 to enter the fourth inning, the Knights scored three runs before erupting for a seven-run seventh inning, capped by a grand slam from Matthew Mika. Mika and Dallas Beaver each have two hits, as seven different UCF batters have at least one RBI. UCF starter Chris Williams tossed 6.0 innings and struck out seven Shockers Friday. It marks the second time this season that the Knights have had a game suspended to the following day.

Jack Sigrist is 2-for-2 to lead the Shockers at the plate. Wichita State starter Preston Snavely struck out six through 4.1 innings of work. The Shockers used five arms out of the bullpen. Saturday’s series finale will be played either 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game or at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Houston 3, Cincinnati 1
Grayson Padgett, Rey Fuentes III and Derrick Cherry each drove in a run, as Houston defeated Cincinnati 3-1 to tie the three-game series at 1-1. Both teams’ starters had solid outings, as Houston’s Clay Aguilar went 6.1 innings, scattering one run on six hits while fanning five batters and issuing two walks on the night. Cincinnati starter Evan Shawver tossed 7.0 innings, striking out eight. However, he gave up three earned runs and five hits and took the loss. Houston’s Fred Villarreal closed-out the final two innings, picking up his American-leading ninth save of the year. Kyle Lovelace had a multi-hit showing to lead the Cougars at the dish.

Cincinnati outhit Houston 9-5. Three Bearcats had a pair of hits, led by leadoff batter Eric Santiago who went 2-for-4 with Cincinnati’s sole RBI single of the night. The first two games of the set have been low-scoring (combined nine runs) and have stayed within two runs.
