Four Tigers had multiple hits, as Memphis rallied for a 3-2 Game 1 win over North Alabama at FedExPark on Monday night. The Tigers will look to sweep the two-game midweek series Tuesday with the first pitch of the second game slated for 5 p.m. ET. Down by one in the fifth inning, Kyle Ouellette and Nick Vaage each drove in runs to give Memphis a 2-1 edge. After North Alabama briefly tied it in the seventh with an RBI double, Vaage delivered the game-winning RBI single in the home half of the frame, as the Tigers held on for a 3-2 win. Along with Vaage and Ouellette, Ben Brooks and Hunter Goodman enjoyed multi-hit showings to lead Memphis at the plate.
The Tigers’ pitching staff combined for seven scoreless innings. Memphis starter Alex Hicks tossed 6.0 innings, fanning seven batters, while allowing one run on nine hits. Alex Smith struck out four through 1.2 innings in relief to earn the win, while Colton Neel pitched a clean ninth frame to collect his eighth save of the season.
