Highlights:
American Athletic Conference baseball teams combined for four wins Tuesday to close their April slates. UCF, UConn, Memphis and USF each picked up victories to end the month on a high note, as the league finished 40-18 against other conferences in April to bolster a 155-97 nonconference record for The American on the year. Houston and Wichita State will open the May action with a pair of midweek games Wednesday before conference play resumes over the weekend.

UConn 9, Central Connecticut 1
UConn allowed a season-low three hits as a pitching staff while banging out 15 hits en route to a 9-1 win against Central Connecticut State on Tuesday at J.O. Christian Field. John Toppa set the tone with a leadoff home run in first inning—his fourth of the season—to open the scoring for the Huskies. UConn added two more runs in the opening frame on RBI singles from Kyler Fedko and Thad Phillips. The Huskies plated three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to break the game open. Angus Mayock earned his first-career win with three shutout innings of work and posted a career-high five strikeouts. The righthander scattered one hit and did not walk a batter. Anthony Prato led five UConn batters that recorded multiple hits, registering a three-hit game to reach 200 hits in his Husky career. UConn looks to carry its momentum into this weekend's American three-game series against Wichita State.

UCF 9, North Florida 7 (11)
For a second-straight Tuesday, UCF won in extra innings, outlasting North Florida 9-7 to complete a season series sweep of the Ospreys. The Knights improve to 11-1 in midweek games this year. UCF used a four-run 11th inning, which included RBIs from Anthony George, Chandler Robertson and Dalton Wingo, to push past North Florida for good. Ray Alejo and Dallas Beaver each doubled and posted three hits to lead the offense. Beaver drove in three runs. UCF will stay on the road when it heads to Tulane for a three-game conference set this weekend.

USF 6, Stetson 4
USF evaded a bases loaded jam in the ninth and moved runs across in five innings on the way to a 6-4 win over Stetson. The Bulls have won seven of their last 10 as they prepare to host Memphis in a three-game American series to open their May slate. USF avenged a 10-9 loss against the Hatters from earlier this season. Chris Chatfield and Jake Sullivan both had two hits, a homer and drove in a pair of runs to lead USF at the plate. Dylan Burns dealt 6.2 innings in his fifth start of the year, striking out five while surrendering four runs on seven hits to earn his third win of the season. Pat Doudican and Brandon Schrepf combined for 2.1 shutout innings out of the pen, scattering one run and a walk.

Memphis 11, Arkansas State 9
Memphis scored eight runs in the first two innings en route to an 11-9 win over Arkansas State. The Tigers completed a season-series sweep of the Red Wolves. Cale Hennemann set the tone early, blasting a grand slam in the opening frame to cap a seven-run first inning. Colton Neel (2-for-3) and Hunter Goodman (2-for-5) combined for five runs and both recorded multi-hit showings. Takoda Metoxen earned the save after tossing a clean ninth inning.

New Orleans 14, Tulane 9
Tulane scored five runs over the final two frames, but the Green Wave was plagued by a 10-run eighth inning in a 14-9 loss to New Orleans to cap the Pelican Cup series. Tulane pounded out 14 hits and stranded 12 New Orleans base runners in the loss. A trio of Green Wave batters had three hits, as Hudson Haskin, Luke Glancy and David Bedgood each homered and combined for nine hits, seven RBIs and four runs scored on the night. Seven Tulane batters registered at least one base knock. After both teams scored two in the third, the game remained locked at 4-4 until the Privateers’ 10-run surge in the eighth inning. Tulane scored two in the eighth and three in the ninth, but its rally came up five runs short. Ryan Green (1.1 IP) and Robert Price (3.0 IP) combined for five strikeouts through 4.1 scoreless innings in relief for the Green Wave. Tulane will look to bounce back when it hosts UCF for three games over the weekend.
