PROVIDENCE, R.I. – UConn (39-24) and ECU (45-16) look to book bids to NCAA Super Regionals after both teams picked up a pair of NCAA Baseball Tournament wins on Sunday and advanced to their respective regional finals taking place on Monday. UConn will play a winner takes all game against Oklahoma State in the Oklahoma City Regional at 7 p.m. ET, while ECU looks to defeat Campbell twice with the first game starting at 1 p.m. ET.
The Huskies powered through a second elimination game against Nebraska before defeating the host Oklahoma State 5-2 to end the night. ECU came out on top in two elimination games, defeating NC State and Quinnipiac in the Greenville Regional. Cincinnati (31-31) fell to Creighton in a Corvallis Regional elimination game, as the Bearcats’ historic season came to an end.

Highlights
UConn powered past Nebraska 16-1 to win a second-straight elimination game and advance to the Oklahoma City Regional final to take on the host Oklahoma State. The Huskies pounded out a season-high 22 hits, totaling 58 through three games in the NCAA tournament. UConn punched a ticket to its second-consecutive NCAA regional final after advancing to the Conway Regional final in 2018.
UConn starter Colby Dunlop tossed a gem, going 8.0 strong innings and throwing a career-high 88 pitches. He struck out six and scattered one earned run on five hits and one walk. Michael Woodworth guided the offense at the plate, going 5-for-7 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Six Huskies turned in multi-hit performances with the first five batters in the lineup combining for 12 hits, six RBIs and four doubles. Anthony Prato and Christian Fedko each had three hits.
UConn jumped out to an early lead with the Fedko brothers (Christian and Kyler) registering RBIs. The Huskies tacked on a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before exploding for 11 runs on 10 hits in the final two frames to clinch the 16-1 vengeance victory.

UConn advanced to a winner takes all regional final after defeating top-seeded Oklahoma State 5-2 in the Oklahoma City Regional. The Huskies and Cowboys will square off for the second time Monday night at 7 p.m. ET. UConn, which made its sixth NCAA tournament appearance since 2010, advanced to a Super Regional in 2011.
UConn, which leads The American with 40 sacrifice flies this season, took an early 3-0 lead in the first two innings with sac flies from Michael Woodworth, David Langer and Chris Winkel. Oklahoma State scored its only two runs of the game in the third inning to trim the deficit to two. Caleb Wurster, CJ Dandeneau and Jacob Wallace then combined for seven shutout innings and 14 strikeouts out of the bullpen for the Huskies.
Wallace entered the game in the top of the seventh with the tying run in scoring position and posted a big punch out to end the frame. Anthony Prato then sent a two-run homer over the left field wall for his third long ball of the season to give UConn a 5-2 advantage in the home half of the frame. Wallace went on to strike out all seven batters faced in the final 2.1 innings of the game. He picked up his conference-leading 16th save of the season. Wurster struck out four through 3.0 scoreless innings and earned his fifth win of the year. Eight UConn batters in the lineup registered a hit.

Top-seeded ECU pushed six runs across in the third inning and survived the first elimination game of the Greenville Regional with a 9-2 win over NC State. The win advanced the Pirates to their second elimination game of the day against Quinnipiac.
Jake Agnos (11-2) pitched into the ninth (8.0 IP), striking out nine, while scattering two earned runs on four hits and four walks. Agnos, who already broke the league’s single-season strikeouts record (140 Ks), tied the conference’s all-time career record with 290 punch outs. After giving up a solo home run to NC State’s Patrick Bailey in the first inning, ECU rallied for six runs (five with two outs) in the bottom of the third to take the lead for good. Alec Burleson brought home Ryder Giles on a fielder’s choice play before Jake Washer, Chandler Jenkins and Brady Lloyd each posted RBIs to give the Pirates a 6-1 advantage.
Washer provided the Pirates with some insurance in the seventh with a two-run blast over the right field wall before Burleson drove in his second run of the ballgame with an RBI single in the eighth. Evan Edwards led off the top of the ninth with the Wolfpack’s second solo shot of the afternoon, but NC State would get no closer, as Cam Colmore shut the door with a 1-2-3 inning to secure a 9-2 victory for the home team. Lloyd, Washer, Turner Brown and Spencer Brickhouse each had two hits to lead the Pirates at the plate.

ECU blasted four home runs on the way to defeating Quinnipiac 13-3, avenging a Saturday loss to Bobcats, while punching a ticket to the Greenville Regional final. The top-seeded Pirates will meet Campbell in the final and will have to defeat the Fighting Camels twice to advance to their first Super Regional since 2016.
Washer continued to shine at the plate and opened the scoring for ECU with a solo blast in the top of the second—his first of two home runs on the night and third of the day. Quinnipiac briefly tied the game after scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the frame before ECU rallied for four runs in the third to regain the lead for good. Bryant Packard and Washer both delivered two-run shots to extend ECU’s lead to 5-1. The Bobcats threatened in the fourth and got one back, but would get no closer. Ryder Giles took the mound with two outs and the bases loaded before firing a big punch out to end the inning without any further damage. Washer registered his fourth RBI of the game in the fifth before the Pirates tacked on two more runs in the sixth, four in the seventh and one in the ninth.
The Pirates cranked out 19 hits with seven batters in the lineup registering multi-hit outings. Burleson went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two walks. Washer went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two home runs. Giles, Colmore, Zach Barnes and Garrett Saylor each tossed at least one inning, combing for 4.1 shutout frames. Giles (1-0) pitched 1.1 innings and earned his first win of the season.

An historic season came to an end for Cincinnati, as the Bearcats dropped a 6-1 decision to Creighton in an elimination game at the Corvallis Regional. Cincinnati, which started the season 1-9, ends its impressive postseason run after winning its first conference title in 52 years and earning a bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1974. After hitting .246 as a team in the regular season, Cincinnati batted .347 with 91 hits, 63 runs scored and 57 RBIs through seven games in the postseason.
The Bearcats struck first with Cole Murphy crossing home plate on a wild pitch in the third inning. Creighton answered in the fourth with a three-run homer from Will Robertson. The Bluejays added two more runs in the sixth and another in the eighth to seal a 6-1 win and advance to the Corvallis Regional final. Jeremy Johnson went 3-for-4 to lead Cincinnati at the dish, while Murphy and Jace Mercer both had two hits. Evan Shawver was tagged with the loss after allowing four earned runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings of work. Creighton starter Ben Dotzler went 7.0 innings and earned his first win of the season.
Sixteen teams advance to Super Regionals, which will be held from June 7-10. The top eight teams remaining will host the Super Regionals on-campus in a best-of-three series with the eight winners advancing to Omaha. The College World Series begins play Saturday, June 15 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
