Tulsa began the 2019 season with a dominating 7-0 win over Texas Southern on Friday night in the Cowgirl Classic hosted by McNeese State in Lake Charles, La.
Valiree Morris put the Golden Hurricane on the board quickly as she punched in the first goal of the season with just 4:02 ticked off the clock. Addyson Guthrie gave Tulsa a two-goal cushion in the 19th minute, followed by a score from Averee Dubach just under three minutes later. Isold Runarsdottir gave the Golden Hurricane a 4-0 lead at the break as she added a goal at the 34:53 mark. Anna Williams (50:21), Neha Igwe (77:09) and Aubrey Lechlider (78:13) all added scores for Tulsa in the second frame for the final 7-0 score.
Tulsa had a 22-2 lead in shots, including a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal, and a 9-0 lead in corner kicks. Mica MacKay logged the first 45 minutes in goal, while Jazmiera Ditter played the second frame between the posts and recorded one save.
