PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
USF women’s soccer senior forward Evelyne Viens has been named TopDrawerSoccer’s National Player of the Week and the United Soccer Coaches DI National Player of the Week, the outlets announced Tuesday (Sept. 10).
Viens led The American with 11 points in a pair of contests last week and was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week. The L'ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada, native scored four goals against Rice on Sept. 6. Her tally tied the USF record for goals in a game. It was the third hat trick of her career, which is also a program record. She added a goal and an assist against UTSA on Sept. 8
Viens currently has 54 career goals and only trails Rachel Hill (UConn, 2013-16) by six goals for the all-time conference mark. Viens was a Third-Team All-American in 2018 and 2017 and was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Division I Best XI Second Team.
The Knights are 4-1-0 on the season after defeating Rice, 5-1, and UTSA, 5-0, last week. Viens is second in The American in points (13), goals (6) and shots (19).
Viens and USF are back in action on Thursday (Sept. 12) when they host Arizona State at 6 p.m.
