Fenstermaker and Jones Join American Athletic Conference

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  Commissioner Mike Aresco announced today the hiring of Tom Fenstermaker and Tony Jones at the American Athletic Conference as director of communications and assistant director of communications, respectively.
 
“We are pleased to welcome Tom and Tony to our communications team at the American Athletic Conference,” Aresco said. “Both have worked at highly respected institutions and bring outstanding ability and experience to The American that will be of great value and service to our membership.”  
 
Fenstermaker will serve as the Conference’s primary contact for men’s basketball, women’s soccer and baseball. For the past two years, he was the assistant athletic director at High Point University.  At High Point, he oversaw the athletic department’s media relations and multimedia production efforts and was HPU’s chief spokesperson for the department of athletics. Fenstermaker also worked in the communications offices at the University of Virginia, University of Maryland-Baltimore County and the University of Maryland. He is a 2008 graduate of Towson University with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and minor in business administration.
 
Jones worked at the University of Notre Dame for seven years, serving as assistant director of athletic communications from 2016-19 and media relations assistant from 2012-16. He also was an intern in the media relations offices at the University of Louisiana Monroe and for the Buffalo Bills and the Jamestown Jammers Class A baseball team. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism/mass communications with a minor in history from St. Bonaventure University in May 2011.
