UCF, Cincinnati and Wichita State fell in American Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Sunday (Dec. 6).

Missouri 72, Wichita State 62 - Box Score

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Mark Smith scored 19 points, Kobe Brown and Dru Smith each added 14 and Missouri beat Wichita State 72-62 on Sunday for its first 3-0 start to a season since 2013-14.

Missouri played with the lead or was tied for all but 45 seconds in its first two games. That included No. 21 Oregon. Against Wichita State, the Tigers trailed 2-0 but tied it on a basket by Brown, and a Jeremiah Tilmon dunk gave Missouri the lead, 4-2, for good.

Smith scored seven points during an 11-0 run to give Missouri a 49-33 lead early in the second half, and the Tigers led by double figures the rest of the way.

Brown grabbed seven rebounds, Mark Smith had six and Dru Smith dished out four assists for Missouri (3-0).

The win over the Ducks on Wednesday was the Tigers’ first victory over an AP Top 25 team away from home since beating No. 12 Illinois on December 22, 2012.

Tyson Etienne and Clarence Jackson scored 14 points apiece for Wichita State (1-1). Alterique Gilbert had 13 points, five rebounds and six assists, and Dexter Dennis added nine points and seven boards.

Xavier 77, Cincinnati 69 - Box Score

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati dropped a 77-69 decision to Xavier in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout on Sunday inside Fifth Third Arena. 
 
Following a driving layup from David DeJulius with 55 seconds left, Cincinnati (1-1) was within three at 72-69, but Xavier (6-0) made five of six free throws in the final minute and held UC scoreless to earn the eight-point win. XU has won six of the last eight games in the annual crosstown battle while UC holds the all-time lead in the series 51-37.  
 
Keith Williams scored a team-high 18 points along with six rebounds and three assists. DeJulius added 16 points, six assists and five rebounds, one of seven players on UC's roster making their debut in the Crosstown Shootout. Rapolas Ivanauskas pulled down six rebounds and scored 10.

Michigan 80, UCF 58 - Box Score

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Chaundee Brown scored 18 points with four 3-pointers, Hunter Dickinson had 14 points and seven rebounds and Michigan used a 20-0 second-half run to beat Central Florida 80-58 on Sunday.

Michigan went on a 22-4 run to end the first half to take a 38-34 lead, and Brown scored the first eight points of the big second-half run. Brown made three 3-pointers in the 20-0 spurt as the Wolverines outscored UCF 42-24 in the second half.

Brown, a Wake Forest transfer, was 7-of-12 shooting to lead three Michigan players off the bench with double-digit scoring as the reserves finished with 49 points.

Terrance Williams II and Eli Brooks, both non-starters, scored 10 points apiece for Michigan (4-0). Dickinson reached double-figure scoring for the fourth straight game.

Michigan has scored at least 80 points in all four games this season, entering averaging 87.

Brandon Mahan led UCF (1-1) with 21 points, and Isaiah Adams added 11 points. The Knights, who were supposed to open the season against Oklahoma until it was canceled for COVID-19 isues, beat Auburn 63-55 in their opener on Monday.
