UCF picked up where it left off after Opening Knight, winning both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Siena at John Euliano Park. The bats came alive in games two and three of the series as the Knights scored a combined 20 runs in the two games.
Game 1
Wasting no time to jump out to a lead, the Black and Gold put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first when Josh Crouch drove a two-bagger down the right field line with the bases loaded. The Knights doubled their score in the next frame, scoring three more runs to extend the lead to six – highlighted by a 2 RBI single off the bat of Jordan Rathbone.
Game 2
Carrying the momentum from the first game, the UCF offense continued to plenty of run support for freshman Hunter Patteson in his collegiate debut. Earning the win, Patteson went 5.1 innings, striking out seven Siena hitters and only allowed a single run.
No. 19 ECU 11, William & Mary 3 -

Tyler Smith allowed one hit over five shutout frames and fanned six while No. 19 East Carolina's offense pounded out 12 hits on its way to an 11-3 win over William & Mary Saturday afternoon at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the win the Pirates improve to 2-0 on the season and the Tribe falls to 0-2.
Smith (1-0) allowed just three base runners on the day (two walks, one hit) and at one point retired 10-straight before he was lifted after tossing five innings. The Pirates' bullpen surrendered three runs over the final five frames getting outings from C.J. Mayhue (2.0 IP, 1 H, 3 Ks), Carter Spivey (1.0 IP, 3 Ks), Carson Whisenhunt (0.0 IP, 1 H, 3 Rs, 1 BB, 1 K) and Nick Logusch (1.0 IP, 1 H, 1K).
Connor Norby led four Pirates with multiple hits going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored. Zach Agnos, Seth Caddell and Bryson Worrell each added a pair of base knocks. Thomas Francisco extended his hit streak to seven games with a single in the second, which dates back to June 1st of last year. The trio of Agnos, Matt James and Lane Hoover plated six of the Pirates 11 runs on the night with each driving in two.
Tulane 8, FGCU 4 -

Two games into the 2020 season, Tulane claimed its second come from behind win in as many days, triumphing 8-4 over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
Behind early, Tulane fought back from an early hole before putting the game out of reach in the eighth inning. Home runs from Green Wave (2-0) junior David Bedgood, sophomore Logan Stevens and three RBI for redshirt senior Grant Mathews highlighted Tulane's offense while the Tulane pitching staff held FGCU (0-2) to six hits.
Bedgood managed three hits while four other Tulane players each had two hits for an offense that collected 14 on the day. Both Bedgood and Stevens were reserves in the opening game, and their performances today demonstrate how deep coach Jewett's team is.
Wichita State 5, Northwestern State 1 -

Junior right-handers Liam Eddy and Foster Gifford teamed-up to spin a one-hitter, helping Wichita State secure a 5-1 victory over the Northwestern State Demons Saturday afternoon at Brown-Stroud Field.
The win was the first of the season for the Shockers (1-1) and the inaugural collegiate triumph for new WSU head coach Eric Wedge.
Eddy and Gifford – both Brighton, Colo., natives – combined to throw the 36th one-hitter in program history and the first since May 22, 2014, when the Shockers defeated Southern Illinois, 2-1 in 12 innings, in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in Terre Haute, Ind.
Eddy (1-0) had a career day on the mound, earning his first win of 2020 in impressive fashion. He struck out a career-high 10 batters in a career-best eight innings and allowed just one hit and one earned run on exactly 100 pitches. Eddy also eclipsed 100 career strikeouts in the contest.
USF 3, Marist 2 (11 innings) -

Freshman Carmine Lane's clutch single in the 11th inning helped USF walk off with its first win of the season on Saturday night. Head coach Billy Mohl's Bulls (1-1) scored two runs in the bottom of the 11th inning to rally past Marist, 3-2, at USF Baseball Stadium.
Right-hander Jack Jasiak was solid in his first start on the mound as a Bull. Jasiak held the Red Foxes scoreless through five frames before allowing one run and finished with nine strikeouts in seven innings. Trailing 2-1 in the 11th inning, the no-quit Bulls delivered. Buck singled down the right field line to drive in the tying run. Nick Gonzalez moved Buck into scoring position with a single to right. With runners at the corners, Mohl called on Lane to pinch hit and the decision paid off with Lane driving a single to right-center.
No. 19 Georgia Tech 6, Cincinnati 4 -

Cincinnati lost by a score of 6-4 Saturday afternoon at No. 19 Georgia Tech. UC held onto a slim 1-0 lead through the first half of the game before Georgia Tech answered back. The Bearcats rallied with three runs in the eighth but could go no further.
Jace Mercer was 2-for-4 from the top of the order with a triple two runs scored. Nathan Kroger put together a strong start on the mound, going 4.1 innings with five hits, two runs, one walk and four strikeouts. The runs did not score until after he left the game.
Xavier 3, Memphis 1 -

Memphis baseball dropped a 3-1 decision to Xavier on Saturday afternoon at FedExPark, evening the opening weekend series.
Offensively, junior Ben Brooks matched his career high with a three-hit day. His 3-for-4 effort was highlighted with a solo homer in the opening inning. On the mound, junior Carson Stinnett made his Memphis debut. The right-hander threw 4 innings, allowing just two runs while registering six strikeouts as he was dealt the setback.
No. 1 Vanderbilt 6, UConn 1 - Box Score
UConn fell to No. 1 Vanderbilt, 6-1, Saturday as part of the MLB4 Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Huskies fell to 0-2 on the season while Vanderbilt improved to 1-1.
Colby Dunlop tossed five innings with one earned run allowed with four strikeouts. Vanderbilt scored four runs in the sixth inning to break open the game, as Erik Stock (0-1) took the loss.
Youngstown State 6, Houston 3 (11 innings) -

Houston came from behind to force extra innings, but fell to Youngstown State, 6-3, in 11 innings, Saturday.
After the Cougars (1-1) had solo home runs in the seventh and eighth innings by Ryan Hernandez and Kobe Hyland, respectively, the Penguins' Steven D'Eusanio hit a three-run home run off Cougar reliever Carter Henry in the top of the 11th.
