Temple 15, Columbia 12
NEW YORK – Temple earned a 15-12 defeat of Columbia to open its road slate Wednesday afternoon, extending its winning streak to three games. With the win, the Owls improve to 4-3 while the Lions fall to 0-5.

Freshman Belle Mastropietro scored five goals to lead the team for the second consecutive game. Jen Rodzewich netted four in the Owls' second hat trick of the game.

Meghan Hoffman scored a pair of goals and led the team with three assists, while Kara Nakrasius had six draw controls.

Rodzewich's forced three turnovers and Maryn Lowell picked up six ground balls. Lowell also made five of the team's seven saves.


Michigan 20, Vanderbilt 13
NASHVILLE - Despite a game-high seven goals from Bri Gross, Vanderbilt dropped a 20-13 nonconference decision to No. 13 Michigan Wednesday afternoon on West End. Gross was tremendous throughout the contest while dazzling the home crowd and dicing the Wolverine defense.

Vanderbilt (4-3) resumes its six-game homestand when it plays host to Penn State 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Commodores also received multi-goal efforts from Cassidy Orban (2) and Elizabeth Scarrone (2), with Gabby Fornia and Mikela McCauley chipping in one apiece.

Gross’ first goal less than a minute into the game, Michigan (5-1) rattled off five unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead it would not relinquish.

Gross earned her hat trick with back-to-back scores to pull the Dores within 5-3 with just under eight minutes left in the first half.

Gabby Fornia’s 10th goal on the season cut the Michigan lead to 9-6, but the Wolverines added two more to make it an 11-6 contest. Gross and McCauley muscled in goals to trim the deficit to 11-8 while Michigan reached ahead again to make it 15-8.

Later, a 4-1 Vandy spurt made it a 17-13 game until Michigan closed the books with a 3-0 run.
