TULSA, Okla. -- Brin Davis threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns, Shamari Brooks rushed for 126 yards and two scores and the Tulsa defense forced three turnovers to deliver a 35-29 win against Memphis Saturday night at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
Josh Johnson had eight catches for 140 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown from Brin in the fourth quarter to give Tulsa (2-4, 1-1) a 28-13 lead with 9:55 left.
Memphis (3-3, 1-1) came right back on a 9-yard touchdown catch by tight end Sean Dykes, who also caught the two-point coversion to bring the Tigers within seven at 28-21.
Tulsa regained the two-score lead on a spectacular 44-yard touchdown run by Anthony Watkins, who burst through the line and broke at least four tackles on his way to the end zone, giving the Golden Hurricane a 35-21 lead.
Memphis again got back within one possession when Seth Henigan found Calivin Austin III for a 30-yard TD with 3:11 left. The Tiger defense forced Tulsa to a three-and-out on teh following series, but Henigan was picked off by Bryson Powers at the Tulsa 20 to clinch it for the Golden Hurricane.
Henigan was 34-of-57 for 463 yards and two touchdowns, while Austin was targeted 20 times and had 13 catches for 200 yards. Memphis kickers missed three field goals and a PAT, which proved costly.
