SMU Offense Delivers 55-28 Win Against UCF

DALLAS - Tanner Mordecai threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns and Tre Siggers had three rushing touchdowns to lead SMU to a 55-28 win against UCF Saturday afternoon at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

The Mustangs (8-2, 4-2 American) snapped a two-game slide thanks to a season-high 631 yards of offense as Mordecai and Preston Stone combined to throw for 390 yards.

SMU held a 21-14 lead after the first quarter and pulled away with 17 second-quarter points to close the first half. Siggers scored on runs of 10 and 16 yards, while Ulysses Bentley IV broke free for a 56-yard TD as part of the decisive run, allowing the Mustangs to take a 38-14 lead into halftime.

UCF's Mark-Antony Richards took a handoff 58 yards for a touchdown on the Knights' first possession of the second half to make it 38-21, but Mordecai found Reggie Roberson Jr. for a 24-yard touchdown late in the third quarter before Siggers' third touchdown of the game came early in the fourth.

SMU set a program record with 36 first downs.

Bentley was SMU's leading rusher with 97 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, while Siggers had 93 yards and three TDs on 11 attmepts.

Dylan Goffney had 10 receptions for 88 yards to lead a group of nine SMU players with at least one reception.

Richards led UCF with 104 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Mikey Keene went 18-for-35 for 174 yards and a touchdown for the Knights, who fell to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in The American.
