Houston Defeats Arizona State 68-60 To Open Cancun Challenge In Mexico

Tatyana Hill, Dymond Gladney and Tiara Young all scored in double-digits as the Houston women's basketball team secured its first win at the Cancun Challenge 68-60 against Arizona State on Thanksgiving day.
 
Hill, Gladney and Young all scored 12 points in the game while Hill added seven rebounds and four steals. Young had two rebounds to go with two steals and one block.
 
After trading points, the Cougars pulled out in front going up 10-6 on a field goal from Bria Patterson. A jumper from Britney Onyeje gave Houston its first double-digit lead of the game at 16-6 and the Cougars maintained their lead finishing the first quarter ahead 22-12.
 
Houston matched the Sun Devils baskets to start the second quarter before the Cougars went up by 15 points on a 3-pointer from Eryka Sidney at 35-20. Houston continued to dominate securing a 39-28 lead going into halftime.
 
Arizona State brought the game within five points at 46-41 but Houston again stretched its lead with three straight baskets and the quarter closed out with the score at 50-44.
 
The Cougars opened the final quarter with two straight baskets but ASU brought the score down to six points before Houston pushed its lead to eight points and secured the win 68-60.
