East Carolina Explodes for 45-3 Win Against Temple

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Holton Ahlers threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown as East Carolina took 45-3 win against Temple Saturday afternoon at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

Tight end Ryan Jones had six catches for 102 yards and two first-half touchdowns for the Pirates, who reeled off 444 yards of offense and limited the Owls to 168 yards.

Keaton Mitchell had 146 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, including a 56-yard TD on the first play from scrimmage in the second half. 

The Pirates (5-4, 3-2 American) built a 21-0 halftime lead and scored the first 20 points of the second half before the Owls got a field goal with 6:55 left.

Temple (3-6, 1-4 American) managed 57 passing yards as starting quarterback D'Wan Mathis left the game in the first half with an injury and backup Justin Lynch was 6-for-20 for 20 yards off the bench. Lynch finished as the Owls' rushing leader with 54 yards.
