Houston's Tune, Memphis' Owens, South Florida's Battie Earn Weekly Conference Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the 10th week of the 2021 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Clayton Tune • Jr. • QB • Houston
Tune completed 21 of 26 passes (80.7%) for 385 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 19 Houston in a 54-42 win at South Florida, keeping the Cougars atop the American Athletic Conference standings with two league games remaining. Tune connected on 16 of his last 17 passes, engineering an offense that finished with a season-high 646 yards without any turnovers. Tune, who registered his second consecutive game with 300 passing yards, has thrown 133 consecutive passes without an interception.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rodney Owens • Sr. • DB • Memphis
Owens keyed a Memphis defense that limited No. 23 SMU to a season-low 323 yards in a 28-25 win against the Mustangs. Owens finished with six tackles, a sack for a loss of 12 yards, and made the clinching defensive play with an interception at the Memphis 26-yard line on SMU’s final drive.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brian Battie • Fr. • RB • South Florida
Battie scored two touchdowns on kickoff returns, becoming only the second player in NCAA FBS history to register two 100-yard kickoff returns in a game in the Bulls’ 54-42 loss to No. 19 Houston. Battie, who also scored a 29-yard rushing touchdown, gave South Florida a lead with both of his 100-yard returns, while he joined former USF wide receiver Terrence Horne as the only American Athletic Conference players to register two touchdowns on kickoff returns in a game. Battie is the NCAA leader with three touchdowns on kickoff returns in 2021.

Had five receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown in a 28-20 win against Tulsa.

Had a game-high 17 tackles with one tackle for loss in a 28-20 win against Tulsa.
 
Holton Ahlers • Sr. • QB • East Carolina
Completed 16 of 24 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown in a 45-3 win against Temple. 
 
Seth Henigan • Fr. • QB • Memphis
Completed 34 of 53 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns and an interception in a 28-25 win against No. 23 SMU.
