UCF Falls To No. 13 UCLA In Five Sets In NCAA Championship Second Round

LOS ANGELESĀ - American Athletic Conference champion UCF dropped a heartbreaking decision to No. 13 seed UCLA on Saturday night in the second round of the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship. The Knights came out on the wrong end of a 27-25, 13-25, 25-19, 22-25, 7-15 result against the Bruins inside Pauley Pavilion.

UCF (27-7) was making its fourth all-time appearance in the second round of the NCAA tournament and narrowly missed out on the program's first bid into the sweet sixteen. The Knights held a 2-1 advantage in the fourth set and led by a 13-8 tally in that frame before UCLA embarked on a 7-0 run and eventually tied the match following a 25-22 set victory. The Bruins raced out to a 12-4 lead in the fifth set and ultimately stalled a UCF rally to close out the match.

McKenna Melville registered 14 kills and 14 digs for UCF, adding six total blocks on the night. Nerissa Moravec hit .278 with six kills and nine block assists, and Amber Olson added 44 assists, nine digs and four block assists for the Knights.
