FRISCO, Texas -- SMU made a furious comeback, but fell to Boise State, 85-84, in the NIT First Round on Thursday night, March 18, in Frisco, Texas.
Down 21 points less than nine minutes into the game, the Mustangs (11-6) pulled within six by halftime and led three times in the second half, but Boise State's Devonaire grabbed a rebound and made a jumper with 10 seconds left to give the Broncos the lead for good. SMU had a chance at the other end, but could not get a shot off.
SMU was led by Kendric Davis, who recorded a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 12 assists. Tyson Jolly added 17 points, while Emmanuel Bandoumel posted 16. William Douglas provided a spark off the bench with nine points.
Boise State had five players in double-figure scoring, led by Mladen Armus with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
