GREENVILLE, N.C. – Ninth-ranked East Carolina scored six runs in the eighth inning breaking a one-all tie to complete a four-game weekend series sweep of Memphis, 7-1, Sunday afternoon in American Athletic Conference play at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. With the victory the Pirates extended their home winning streak to 18 games and improved to 26-5 overall and 8-0 in league play, while the Tigers fell to 11-19 on the season and 1-7.
 
With the game knotted at one-all going to the bottom of the eighth, the Pirates put up a crooked number to regain the lead and cruised to its eighth-straight AAC win. Connor Norby collected the second of his two hits to start the frame and then moved to second on Thomas Francisco's second base knock of the day, a shot to left field. After Seth Caddell dropped a sac bunt back to the Memphis pitcher (Walker Brockhouse) moving both runners into scoring position, Josh Moylan singled to right field scoring the two sophomores for a 3-1 ECU lead.
 
Lane Hoover kept the inning going with a walk that moved pinch runner Matt Bridges to second and Bryson Worrell's sixth hit of the series, a single to right field, scored Bridges from second base. Hoover and Worrell would score on a wild pitches when Hunter Goodman tried to complete the strikeout of Zach Agnos and Ryley Johnson's second home run of the season, a solo shot to right field, capped the scoring at 7-1.
 
Cam Colmore (4-0) earned the win allowing one hit and striking out four in 2.1 innings of relief. Starter Tyler Smith worked a season-high 5.2 innings where he surrendered one run (earned) on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Ryder Giles retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning with one strikeout.

Cincinnati 10, UCF 6 - Box Score
CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to fuel a 10-6 come-from-behind win to earn a series split with UCF in American Athletic Conference action on Sunday at UC Baseball Stadium.
 
Trailing 4-0 after five-and-a-half innings, Griffin Merritt's leadoff solo home run in the bottom of the frame started the comeback. Cole Harting plated Joe Powell to make the margin 4-2 after five.
 
UCF (14-18, 4-4 AAC) got one back in the sixth but Paul Komistek's two-run homer to right scored Eric Santiago and chased Knights starter Jack Sinclair from the game. Merritt followed with a single, Deondre Bremner doubled to right field and Powell walked to load the bases. Jake Murray was next up and drew a 3-2 walk to score Merritt and UCF went to the bullpen again.
 
Harting's sacrifice to center score Bremner and after an intentional walk to Jace Mercer, Joey Bellini singled to bring home Powell and Murray and Cincinnati (13-16, 2-6 AAC) had an 8-5 lead.
 
In the seventh, Harting doubled in Bremner and Komistek singled through the right side to score Bellini from second to get UC to double-digits on the scoreboard.
 
Dean McCarthy picked up the win in relief and evened his record at 2-2 on the season. He threw 3.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

Wichita State 13, Houston 2 (7 innings) - Box Score
WICHITA, Kan. – Freshman infielder Derek Shaver hit a grand slam and pitcher Spencer Hynes threw five innings and struck out four to lift the Wichita State baseball team to a 13-2, seven-inning, run-rule victory and complete a four-game series sweep of the Houston Cougars Sunday, April 11, at Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field.
 
With the win, the Shockers (19-9, 7-1 American) have won seven consecutive games and earn a series sweep over Houston (13-18, 1-7 American) for the first time since joining the American Athletic Conference prior to the 2018 season. In addition, the Shockers finished 7-1 in their eight straight games against Houston, losing only the series opener in Houston, Texas, April 1.
 
Shaver, who entered the game in the top of the sixth inning at third base, demolished a 3-2 pitch over the right-center wall with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning for his first-career grand slam and first collegiate homer, ballooning a 9-2 Shocker advantage to 13-2.
 
Hynes improved to 3-1 on the mound after allowing just two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks on 83 pitches.
 
Hunter Gibson added a trio of hits, while David VanVooren and Ross Cadena each finished with two hits, including doubles, pacing Wichita State at the plate.
