Cincinnati and Tulane both earned doubleheader sweeps in American Athletic Conference baseball action on Friday, April 23.

Cincinnati 6, Wichita State 0 (Game 1) - Box Score
CINCINNATI – Garrett Schoenle had his longest outing since March 2019 and the University of Cincinnati baseball team opened a weekend series against Wichita State with a 6-0 win on Friday afternoon at UC Baseball Stadium.
 
Cole Harting led the game off with a triple and scored on Jace Mercer's RBI single to give UC a lead it wouldn't relinquish.
 
The Bearcats (17-17, 6-7 AAC) plated three runs in the sixth after Ryan Nicholson hammered one over the fence in right field to score Eric Santiago and Paul Komistek.
 
Mercer led off the eighth with a solo shot to right and the Joey Bellini scored on a RBI fielder's choice from Nicholson.
 
Schoenle's 8.0 innings pitched was the second-longest start of his career and longest since going 8.1 innings in a win at USF on March 24, 2019. On Friday, he moved to 4-1 on the year, threw 121 pitches, scattered four hits with two walks while striking out nine and not surrendering an extra-base hit.

Cincinnati 12, Wichita State 2 (Game 2 - 7 innings) - Box Score
CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team swept a Friday doubleheader for the second-straight weekend, beating Wichita State 12-2 in seven innings at UC Baseball Stadium.
 
The game ended after Joey Bellini's three-run shot off the scoreboard, which gave the Bearcats (18-17, 7-7 AAC) a 10-run lead which ended the game under the American Athletic Conference's 2021 run rule.
 
Bellini finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
 
Zach Segal went the distance for UC, evening his record at 3-3 on the year. He struck out five and didn't walk anyone while giving up six hits and a pair of runs.

Tulane 13, Memphis 2 (Game 1) - Box Score
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tulane University baseball team (18-13; 7-1 AAC) continued its winning ways in game one of its doubleheader with the University of Memphis (12-23; 2-11), taking down the down the Tigers 13-2 at FedEx Park Friday afternoon.
 
Tulane finished the game with 18 hits, four doubles and a pair of home runs to pick up its seventh straight win. The Green Wave have now collected 10-or-more hits in 14 games this season. Tulane's 18 hits are its second highest total this year.
 
Freshman catcher Bennett Lee and sophomore shortshop Collin Burns continued to swing hot bats for the Green Wave, as the duo combined for seven hits. Lee collected four hits and drove in three runs, while Burns had three hits and scored three runs. In addition, Burns and Lee extended their respective hitting streaks to 14 and 11 games, respectively.
 
Freshman Chase Engelhard also had a strong afternoon at the plate, as he collected a double and a home run, finishing with a game-high four RBI. Right fielder Simon Baumgardt also chipped in with three hits.
 
Junior right-hander Braden Olthoff picked up the win for the Green Wave after he worked 7.0 innings. In those 7.0 innings, the California native struck out eight, allowed just one earned run and did not walk a batter.

Tulane 4, Memphis 2 (Game 2) - Box Score
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tulane University baseball team (19-13; 8-1 AAC) captured its eighth straight win behind another masterful performance by left-handed starter Jack Aldrich, as he led the Green Wave to a 4-2 victory in game two of the doubleheader with the University of Memphis (12-23; 2-11) Friday evening at FedEx Park.
 
Aldrich worked 7.0 innings allowed just two hits and one earned run. He also struck out a career-high 10 batters and walked only two to move to 4-1 on the year.
 
With the win, Tulane moved 8-1 in league play for the first time in program history. The win also gave the Green Wave their fifth straight win over the Tigers this season.
 
The doubleheader sweep over the Tigers marked Tulane's third of the year. In addition, the eight-game winning streak is the second longest in the Travis Jewett era.
 
Offensively for the Green Wave, freshman Bennett Lee and sophomore Collin Burns continued their strong performances at the plate, as they both extended their respective hitting streaks to 12 and 15 games.

East Carolina 4, UCF 2 (Game 1) - Box Score
Gavin Williams (5-0) allowed two runs (both earned) on three hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts over 6.1 innings helping ECU to a 4-2 series opening win over UCF. The Pirates tallied 11 hits getting three each from Zach Agnos, Francisco and Norby as the Pirates extended their home winning streak to 19 games and current win streak to 10.
 
The Pirates jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to Francisco's RBI single that plated Norby from second base. Norby extended his on-base streak to 39 games with a single (hit streak to 19) up the middle to begin the stanza and two batters later came around to score on Francisco's RBI base knock to right-center that pushed his on-base streak to 35 contests.
 
ECU added two more runs in the second for a 3-0 advantage. Ryder Giles' sac bunt scored Agnos, who doubled to start the frame and took third on a failed pickoff by Zack Hunsicker at second. Norby's tenth home run of the season, a blast to left field gave him his 20th multi-hit game of the season.

UCF 10, East Carolina 5 (Game 2) - Box Score
Carrying the late game momentum from game one, UCF struck first in game two to jump out to the early lead, plating five before East Carolina could answer. Tom Josten opened the account with an RBI single in the first inning; in the second, Pablo Ruiz doubled and later came around to score on a wild pitch; and the Knights plated three in the third as Josh Crouch, Alex Freeland, and Ben McCabe earned RBI.
 
Ben McCabe took the big step in sealing the victory for the Knights, launching a three-run home run in the seventh inning – his 10th home run on the year.
 
The Pirates scored in three separate innings, answering UCF's big innings with multiple-run innings themselves, but the Black and Gold's pitching held strong against the potent offense.
 
Starting pitcher Kenny Serwa tossed 6.1 innings in his 7th start of the year, a season-long for the redshirt junior. Hunter Patteson came out of the pen to earn the long save, working through 2.2 IP of scoreless baseball to close the game.
