INDIANAPOLIS -- Houston men's basketball's magical run concluded in the Final Four, falling to Baylor, 78-59, Saturday, April 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Cougars finish the season 28-4 and were the American Athletic Conference tournament champions for the first time. It was Houston's sixth appearance in the Final Four and first since 1984. It was Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson's second trip to the Final Four (2002, Oklahoma).
Marcus Sasser led all scorers with 20 points, including five 3-pointers. All-American Quentin Grimes added 13, all in the second half.
Baylor (27-2) shot 52.7 percent from the field (29-55) and held a 33-28 edge on the boards. Jared Butler led the Bears with 17 points.
Houston became the second team from The American to reach the Final Four, joining UConn, who won the national championship in 2014.
