WICHITA, Kan. – The USF Bulls (22-23, 12-11 AAC) launched a season-high four home runs on Saturday at Wichita State (26-20, 14-12 AAC) to breeze past the Shockers, 7-1, behind a quality start on the mound from Jack Jasiak.

The Bulls' offense matched a season high with seven extra-base hits in the win. Carmine Lane recorded the first two home run game of his career and set a new high in RBI (4). Roberto Peña and Jake Sullivan also went deep for USF.

Sullivan sparked the fireworks with a leadoff homer in the second inning – his first of the season. Lane followed suit in the third by leading off the frame with a round-tripper. The redshirt freshman connected on his second longball, a two-run shot, in the fourth inning. Four of Lane's seven home runs this season have come in the past eight games.

Peña belted his team-leading 10th homer in the seventh inning, and Lane drew a bases-loaded walk later in the frame for good measure as the USF lead swelled to 7-0.

The Shockers snuffed out Jasiak's shutout bid in the bottom of the seventh, before Logan Lyle entered in relief to blank the home team for the remainder of the ballgame.

Houston (19-27, 7-16 AAC) put two across in the fifth, taking a 5-4 lead on a Dylan Post sacrifice fly. The Cougars sent seven batters to the plate in the frame and evened things up on an RBI-double from Steven Rivas.

Houston closer Derrick Cherry was strong in relief, locking up his fifth save and second in as many days. The right-hander used three pitches to strand two runners in the sixth and struck out Hunter Goodman to secure the win in the ninth. Cherry tossed 3.1 innings, allowing two hits and one run alongside four strikeouts.
